Funding

Have a Plan to Stay Funded

To maintain funding, programs may need to write multiple applications at different intervals, rather than waiting until funds are running low. To keep the program going, think about other possibilities. For example, connecting with academic institutions, becoming part of a multi project grant. Investigating funding sources such as SAMHSA or CDC, state, and county departments of public health. Even though you're busy with other responsibilities, it is important that you are writing additional grant applications as early as possible rather than waiting until the last minute. Act now!

Strengthening your collaborations. Applications with strong partnerships can broaden the range of funding opportunities. Especially, when the relationship covers a range of relevant issues (e.g., HIV, STIs, substance/tobacco use, prevention, PrEP, and legal issues. Building cooperation between organizations with common goals can increase the visibility of your programs and emphasize the importance of your messages to funders.  Keep in mind, partnerships come with their own set of challenges, clearly spelling out each organization’s role is important.
